After the ICC came to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, the Indian board (BCCI) started threatening the PCB with financial loss to convince them to adopt a hybrid model.
According to reports, if the Champions Trophy is moved from Pakistan to another country, they will have to lose $65 million in hosting fees, while in case of withdrawal, they may have to lose revenue share along with sanctions.
Pakistan has hinted at a strong response to India for not sending its team for the Champions Trophy, on which India has started threatening the PCB with financial loss through its media.
The Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held in three Pakistani cities, Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, from February 19 to March 9 next year. After India refused to send a team, it is pressuring the ICC to adopt a hybrid model.
Reports say that Pakistan’s non-participation in the event will also pose challenges for the ICC, while both broadcasters and sponsors expect ICC events to be a competition between traditional rivals.
