The Chief Election Commissioner, Sikandar Sultan Raja, reportedly held a meeting with Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Justices Sardar Tariq and Ejaz-ul-Ahsan were also present, alongside the Attorney General. During the meeting, the Chief Election Commissioner briefed the judges about the Lahore High Court’s restraining order.
The Lahore High Court had suspended the Election Commission’s notification for conducting general elections using bureaucratic services, following a request from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf. The single bench recommended a larger bench to review the petitions, leading to the formation of a 5-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi. This larger bench is scheduled to hear the case on December 18.
