The Islamabad High Court has issued a notification to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding the post-arrest bail request of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, who has been detained in a cipher-related case. The court has requested the FIA to provide its response.
Chief Justice Amir Farooq presided over the hearing of the bail application filed by the PTI chairman, with Barrister Salman Safdar representing him.
Despite repeated pleas from the PTI chairman’s legal team for an expedited hearing, the court emphasized that the established procedure will determine the decision on the bail application by the upcoming Monday.
In response to the application, the court has issued a notice to the Federal Investigation Agency, asking for their response at the next hearing.
Previously, the Special Court under the Official Secrets Act had denied the bail application of the PTI chairman, prompting him to appeal to the Islamabad High Court.
The PTI chairman remains in custody on judicial remand until September 26, and the special court has requested the case’s challan (formal charge sheet) from the FIA.
