
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission is currently engaged in a consultative process with various political parties regarding the upcoming general elections. Delegations from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, among others, have met with Election Commission officials, including the Chief Election Commissioner.
The Election Commission has initiated discussions with political parties as part of its consultation process. The initial meetings included interactions with PTI and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, during which the political parties presented their suggestions.
After the discussions, Senator Ali Zafar, representing PTI, stated that they covered three key points. The PTI delegation conveyed their willingness to collaborate with the Election Commission to ensure elections take place within a span of ninety days. Emphasizing the importance of amending the constitution pertaining to the census, the delegation highlighted the current unavailability of the National Assembly to address this matter.
Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, reiterated their stance to the media after meeting with the Election Commission. He emphasized their commitment to transparent elections conducted within the constitutional framework.
As part of the ongoing consultation process with political parties, the Muslim League-N has been scheduled for a meeting on August 25, while the People’s Party will meet on August 29. The Election Commission aims to gather suggestions from these consultations to ensure the forthcoming elections are conducted with transparency.
