The Lahore High Court rejected the plea of stopping the jail trial of PTI founder Imran Khan in the contempt of Election Commission case.
A 3-member bench of the Lahore High Court heard the petition against the jail trial of the ex-chairman PTI in the Election Commission. The court rejected the plea to stop the jail trial and issued notices to the Election Commission and others and sought their response.
The court said that Adiala Jail is in Rawalpindi and the jurisdiction of this court is Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Election Commission counsel briefed the full bench regarding Home Department’s jail trial notification. Counsel ECP told the court that the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued a jail trial notification in contempt of Election Commission on December 8.
The lawyer of former chairman PTI said that the notices were received at Zaman Park when the petitioner was in Lahore. A case is scheduled tomorrow to indict former Chairman PTI.
