Contempt Election Commission Case; Ministry of Interior has submitted a report of no appear to Imran Khan.

The Ministry of Interior has submitted a report concerning Imran Khan’s absence in the Election Commission’s hearing regarding alleged insults against the Commission. The case was heard, but PTI Chairman and Fawad Chaudhry did not attend. The Ministry cited the situation as insufficient for Imran Khan’s appearance, suggesting a trial within the jail.

During the hearing, Commission member Nisar Durrani referred to the Ministry’s report, stating it’s not conducive to present the PTI chairman but suggested conducting the trial within the jail. A 4-member bench, led by Nisar Durrani, convened for the contempt case. Asad Umar, Shoaib Shaheen, and Faisal Chaudhry were present, while Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry were absent.

PTI’s lawyer, Shoaib Shaheen, requested a copy of the Interior Ministry’s report, expressing concern about the case’s perception. Nisar Durrani directed to provide the report, emphasizing adherence to the law rather than discussing perceptions. He expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of cooperation in pushing the case forward.

Shah Mohammad Jatoi, another Election Commission member, mentioned that deliberate non-appearance posed risks. Faisal Chaudhry mentioned Fawad Chaudhry’s presence in Adiala Jail. Asad Umar, despite stating he has moved away from politics, was encouraged by the Commission member to remain active. Umar thanked them but maintained his stance of stepping away from politics.

Subsequently, the Election Commission adjourned the case’s hearing until December
