In Rawalpindi, the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench has set a final deadline of October 2 for the police to recover former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, warning of strict consequences if this deadline is not met.

During a hearing at the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court, the case of Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, who is also the head of the Awami Muslim League, was discussed. The court inquired about the progress in the case, reminding the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Khurram Ali that they had previously requested a week to provide updates.

Sheikh Rasheed’s lawyer informed the court that the police have been attempting to contact Sheikh Rasheed and suggesting that he should give a statement claiming he left voluntarily, which would lead to his release. The police conducted a raid and arrested Sheikh Rasheed under the supervision of SSP Operation, and there is CCTV footage of the incident. The lawyer also mentioned that witnesses to the arrest include security guards residing in the vicinity.

The court asked the RPO to provide an affidavit confirming that the three individuals, including Sheikh Rasheed, were not police informants. The court warned that if the three hostages are not recovered in Rawalpindi, legal action will be taken against those responsible.

The lawyer emphasized that Sheikh Rasheed’s nephew, Sheikh Shakir, and employee Imran are not involved in politics and should be left out of the case.

The court made it clear that this is the final opportunity and that they will not summon anyone; instead, they will issue instructions to the RPO. Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench stated that strict legal action would be taken if Sheikh Rasheed is not recovered by October 2.
