According to reports on Tuesday, players from Pakistan who had been instructed to return to Pakistan by February 2 were permitted to participate in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) until February 8.
However, the PCB’s decision only affects players who will not be attending the upcoming exhibition match in Quetta between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.
It is requested that players who are scheduled to take part in the exhibition match on February 5 return home by February 2.
Prior to the start of the PSL 8 in Multan, the PCB had advised all players to return to the country by February 2. The franchises had requested that the PSL 8 players be recalled, according to the PCB’s statement.
Importantly, prominent national T20 players Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Naseem Shah are participating in the BPL 2023.
All players were encouraged to participate by PCB chairman Najam Sethi prior to the Quetta exhibition match.
“It is our contractual right that whenever we want our players, we can call them back anytime from anywhere,” Sethi stated without ambiguity. This occurs everywhere in the world. I understand that they want to complete their contract and earn money, but we need them to act in the nation’s best interest.
It is important to note that the PSL 8 opening ceremony will take place on February 13 in Multan, prior to the matchup between the defending champion Lahore Qalandars and the Multan Sultans, who won the tournament in 2021; The play-offs will also be held in Lahore, which will host the final and closing ceremony on March 19.
The Lahore Qalandars will try to be the first team in history to win two championships at the same time; In the interim, Islamabad United will try to become the most successful team in history by winning the trophy three times.
Rawalpindi will host 11 games, Karachi will host 9 games, Lahore will host 9 games, and Multan will host 5 games.
