
The court has deferred its decision regarding the petitions seeking to halt the arrest warrants issued against Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz in Islamabad.
Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana presided over the hearing, where the legal representatives of Nawaz Sharif’s sons, Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, namely Qazi Misbah-ul-Hasan and Rana Irfan Advocate, were present. The court reserved its decision after hearing arguments from both sides. Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar and Prosecutor Sohail Arif represented the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) during the proceedings.
Qazi Misbah-ul-Hasan Advocate argued that all other co-accused in the reference have been acquitted by the High Court, and Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz are set to return to Pakistan and appear before the court on March 12. He mentioned that two arrest warrants had already been suspended, and the accused are willing to surrender in court upon their return.
Prosecutor Sohail Arif emphasized giving the accused an opportunity to appear before the court.
Subsequently, the accountability court decided to reserve its decision on the applications seeking the suspension of arrest warrants for Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, with a further hearing scheduled for 2 pm.
It’s worth noting that Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz had approached the court to suspend the warrants before their planned return to Pakistan. They have filed applications in NAB references Avenfield, Flagship, and Al-Azizia. The accountability court had declared them as absconders seven years ago.
