In Karachi, a case has been filed at Shah Latif police station in connection with a protest organized by Jamaat-e-Islami against the rise in electricity prices, which escalated into acts of arson.
According to the case details, the police were involved in an anti-crime operation near a rickshaw stand on National Highway when a group of troublemakers initiated a protest in response to Jamaat-e-Islami’s call. The protesters were equipped with sticks, stones, and other materials.
As the protestors noticed a police vehicle approaching, they pelted it with stones, setting it ablaze, and also ignited a motorcycle. Amid the chaos caused by the protesters, the motorcycles belonging to police officers Muhammad Hanif, Waqas, and Arsalan Shawkat were also set on fire, prompting legal action.
Subsequently, 8 protesters have been apprehended, with ongoing efforts to locate and arrest more than 45 individuals identified in the incident.
