Election Commission; PTI is violating the law through ‘Plan B’.

In Islamabad, following Tehreek-e-Insaf’s “Batman” contingency plan, the Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a new directive.

The order emphasizes that no candidate from any other party should be granted an election symbol, as it constitutes a violation of electoral laws and an attempt to deceive the Election Commission. The directive explicitly prohibits the allocation of a second election symbol to any candidate.

According to the Election Commission’s order, numerous applications have been received from candidates attempting to manipulate the system and breach electoral laws. The directive specifically states that candidates affiliated with one party are not eligible to receive the election symbol of another party. Returning officers are instructed not to grant an alternative election symbol to such candidates.

The Election Act mandates that a candidate provides a certificate of party affiliation, emphasizing that an individual cannot be a member of more than one party simultaneously.

It is noteworthy that Tehreek-e-Insaf had directed its candidates to submit Tehreek-e-Insaf ideology tickets at the offices of returning officers. The electoral symbol associated with Tehreek-e-Insaf’s ideology is the bat.
