The government has urged the Election Commission to reassess the removal of the IG and DC of Islamabad. During a session presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja, the Secretary of the Establishment Division highlighted the abrupt issuance of the notification for Ahad Cheema’s removal from office.
In addition, the Secretary mentioned that the Ministry of Interior submitted reports from the Intelligence Bureau concerning terrorism incidents and the law and order situation in Islamabad. The Ministry requested the Election Commission to reconsider its decision to remove the IG and DC, emphasizing their importance as per the Prime Minister’s directives. The Election Commission agreed to review the Ministry’s reports and will announce a decision on replacements by tomorrow.
