In the proceedings of the Election Commission, a member expressed his restraint regarding the events in the jail during the contempt case hearing.

Shoaib Shaheen, the founding lawyer of PTI, raised objections to the indictment of Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry in the contempt case.

Despite his absence in the previous hearing, Shaheen argued that he was engaged in a political campaign in his constituency, yet the proceedings continued. He criticized the initiation of insult commission cases and the removal of the bat election symbol during the election days.

Shaheen emphasized that this tradition is not favorable, citing the Supreme Court’s decision from two years ago. Member Sindh highlighted Imran Khan’s statement about events in the jail, stating their restraint despite such occurrences. Shaheen requested a later date for resolving the matter, citing the commission’s heavier responsibilities. The hearing was adjourned until January 24th.
