The election security plan has been finalized by the Federal Police in Islamabad, leading to the cancellation of officials’ leave.
A high-level meeting chaired by ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, including Capital Police officers, SSP Operations, AIG Operations, and DPOs, addressed preparations for the upcoming elections.
Although the Federal Police has outlined the security plan, practical implementation is delayed due to funds not being released. The election will be administratively divided into eastern and western parts, overseen by DIG level officers. All police personnel vacations are canceled until further notice, and volunteers, including retired police officers, will be recruited for additional duties. The district administration has been requested to provide 500 women volunteers for women’s polling stations.
The meeting emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for election code of conduct violations, including the display of arms, protests, aerial firing, or any disturbance of public order. Sensitive polling stations will have cameras installed, and a central control room will be established in Safe City Islamabad. A total of 10,000 personnel from Islamabad Police and other law enforcement agencies will be deployed for election duties.
The top priority for Islamabad Capital Police is ensuring peaceful elections, and citizens are encouraged to report any unusual activity through the Pikaar 15 or ICT 15 app.
