In California, Elon Musk, the CEO of X (formerly known as Twitter), has suggested the implementation of a monthly fee to counteract the prevalence of bots on the social networking platform.
Under Elon Musk’s ownership, the social media platform has undergone a series of transformations.
During a livestream, Elon Musk disclosed the platform’s intention to introduce a nominal monthly fee for utilizing the X system as a means to address the significant bot presence on the platform. However, he did not specify the exact amount users will be required to pay under this new arrangement or detail the features that will be accessible to subscribers.
In the course of the conversation, Elon Musk mentioned that X presently boasts 550 million monthly users who collectively generate between 100 million and 200 million daily posts. Consequently, to effectively combat the bot issue, a modest monthly fee, denoted as the “C fee,” is deemed necessary.
One of the company executives elaborated that this subscription model would create obstacles for Facebook bots seeking to establish accounts, as each bot would be obliged to utilize a new credit card for registration on the platform.
