In Islamabad, the Federal Ministry of Education has established a high-level committee to address the issue of reinstating students’ unions in universities and other educational institutions.
The committee comprises 14 members and is under the leadership of the senior joint secretary. Its primary task is to thoroughly examine matters pertaining to students’ unions and present a report within a 10-day timeframe.
This distinguished committee includes individuals with expertise in education, researchers, and university vice-chancellors. The senior joint secretary from the Ministry of Education will serve as the committee’s chairperson, while the executive director of the Higher Education Commission is also among its members.
Furthermore, the committee incorporates the Vice-Chancellor of Quaid-e-Azam University, the Vice-Chancellor of Namal University, the Rector of International University Islamabad, the Vice-Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Degree College in Rawalpindi, as well as the principals of two prominent colleges, namely F84 and H84 in the federal capital.
In addition to these members, academicians Ali Moin Nawazish and Ayesha Razak have also been included in the committee. Additionally, three research students will be part of the committee. The committee’s responsibilities encompass submitting recommendations within the stipulated 10-day period and reviewing the related bill in the Senate.
