Excellent Work: SNGPL Cuts UFG Losses by 23,348 MMCF

The duty of reducing SNGPL's UFG losses by 18,240 MMCF during a three-year period (FY 2019–20 to FY 2021–2022), concluding on June 30, 2022, had been given to the government of Pakistan. SNGPL reduced UFG losses by 23,348 MMCF, exceeding the predetermined objective. The decrease in UFG losses exceeds the specified task by 28%. The aims and accomplishments for all 30 UFG control measures (KMIs) have been communicated with the PM office through the Ministry of Energy, it is further noted (Petroleum Division). SNGPL has concentrated on limiting gas theft, leakage, and measurement mistakes in order to meet the set objectives. Through SCADA, real-time monitoring of all industrial consumers is done often. To prevent unwanted access, cyber locks have also been implemented at potential industrial links. Consumers, both domestic and commercial, are being physically watched. These procedures allowed the corporation to identify 325,978 instances of gas theft, resulting in the booking of a volume of 5,282 MMCF, or Rs. 4,543 million. Additionally, the corporation was able to recover 3,868 MMCF, or $2,402 million in rupees. The company also closely monitors gas leaks. Under the System Rehabilitation Program, SNGPL replaced 2,645 kilometers of leaky lines during that time. Further, 97,984 underground leakages and 2,935,842 aboveground leakages were rectified. Around 2,097,608 metres have been changed to increase measurement accuracy, resulting in the booking of 21,418 MMCF against under billing charges. Gas metres are replaced due to suspicion, fault, planned replacement, and so forth. SNGPL has achieved outstanding accomplishments as a consequence of technological, operational, and physical initiatives made during the current MD regime. The Company has been turned into a lively and creative technology-based energy supplier under the supervision of MD SNGPL Ali J. Hamdani, which is a remarkable turnaround in such a short period of time.
