
Pakistan and India have conducted the exchange of lists pertaining to their nuclear facilities and prisoners. This simultaneous exchange took place today through the High Commissions in Islamabad and New Delhi.
Under the India-Pakistan Consular Access Agreement of 21 May 2008, both nations annually exchange lists of prisoners detained by each other. This ritual occurs on 1st January and 1st July. As per the exchanged list on July 1, 2023, there are a total of 417 Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails, consisting of 343 ordinary citizens and 74 fishermen. Correspondingly, Indian prisoners in Pakistan amount to 42 Indian citizens and 266 fishermen.
Additionally, the two nations exchanged their respective lists of nuclear facilities. The Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, stated that this marks the 33rd exchange of such lists between Pakistan and India.
