Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), highlighted discrepancies in global responses, stating that while there’s uproar over the tragic killing of madrasa students, there’s conspicuous silence regarding the atrocities in Palestine.
Speaking at an event celebrating the complete memorization of the Quran in Babuzai, part of Katling Tehsil in Mardan, Maulana emphasized their commitment to thwart any conspiracies against madrasas. He reiterated their allegiance to the teachings received in these institutions, acknowledging the sacrifices made by predecessors for the nation, which, he lamented, seem unacknowledged.
Expressing concern, he noted that despite Pakistan’s creation 75 years ago in the spirit of Kalma, current Muslim leadership appears to misunderstand its essence. He criticized the alleged blasphemy by foreign agents in the country, underscoring the threat to their freedom. Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized the perceived control exerted by international organizations over Pakistan’s politics, economy, and defense, citing instances where the nation’s autonomy seems compromised.
He criticized the paradox where human rights advocates raise an outcry if a madrasa teacher harms a student, yet remain silent on the grievous situation in Palestine. Maulana voiced his condemnation of the ongoing Palestinian tragedy, expressing dismay over the failure of global bodies like the United Nations Security Council and basic human rights organizations to address it adequately.
Asserting their commitment to upholding human rights and fostering economic recovery, Maulana clarified that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam does not endorse a politics centered on weapons.
