In Karachi, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to unblock and make accessible all of the National Airlines’ (PIA) accounts.
This decision comes following PIA’s commitment, conveyed in writing, to make a payment this month. In return, PIAF will transfer Rs 2.50 crore to FBR within this same month. PIA is obligated to settle a total debt of 8 billion rupees.
Approximately a week ago, FBR had put a freeze on all of PIA’s bank accounts due to the airline’s failure to pay federal excise duty. This financial restriction imposed on PIA has led to significant financial hardships for the airline. Consequently, the freezing of bank accounts has resulted in a delay in disbursing August salaries to PIA employees.
