In the federal budget for the next fiscal year 2023-24, the federal government has proposed an increase of up to 30 percent in the salaries of government employees in the form of ad-hoc allowance, while there is a possibility of an increase in medical and conveyance allowances including 20 percent in pension.
Apart from this, the Pay and Pension Commission has recommended the government to increase the medical and conveyance allowances given to government employees by 100% and increase the salaries by 10% in the form of ad hoc allowance.
The sources of the Regulation Wing of the Ministry of Finance say that in the budget of the next financial year, 3 proposals have been prepared regarding the increase in salaries and pensions of government employees, which will be presented in a special meeting of the cabinet presided over by the Prime Minister.
In the same meeting, a final decision will be taken regarding the salary and pension of the employees as well as the increase in allowances.
Sources say that the Pay and Pension Commission will increase the salaries of government employees in the federal budget of the next fiscal year 2023-24.
In the context of the recommendation of the first proposal, it is proposed to increase the medical and conveyance allowances to the employees by 100% and to increase the salaries by 10% in the form of ad-hoc allowance and similarly to the medical allowances to the retired employees by 100%. The pension should be increased by 10%.
The Pay and Pension Commission has said that accepting this proposal will not increase the burden on the pension bill of the government and the IMF will not have any objection and the employees will also get a big relief.
Sources say that the second proposal is to increase the salaries of all government employees from grades 1 to 22 by 25% and also increase the medical and conveyance allowances, while the pensioners’ medical allowances are also increased by 15%.
