Today marks the fifth day of the truce between Israel and Hamas, following a two-day extension. Reports from international news sources indicate that additional Israeli prisoners are set to be released today, with Hamas forwarding a list of 10 names to the Israeli Prime Minister’s office.
During the four-day temporary ceasefire, Hamas freed 69 Israeli prisoners, while Israel reciprocated by releasing 150 Palestinians. This extension of the ceasefire, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, has granted an additional two days for negotiations.
As per the Palestinian Ministry of Health’s statement, Israeli forces reportedly subjected hundreds of Palestinians gathered outside the prison in Ramla, in the occupied West Bank, to violence while they awaited the release of their loved ones. This resulted in numerous injuries among the Palestinian crowd.
Since October 7, more than 15,000 Palestinians have tragically lost their lives in Israel’s attacks on Gaza, with a significant number of the victims being children.
