The inaugural winter snowfall has commenced in Malika Kohsar Murree, marking the second consecutive day of snowfall in other elevated regions across the country.
Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, overseeing Murree, conducted inspections in various areas, including Jhika Gali, Kashmir Point, Mall Road, and Kaldana, to assess the preparedness measures. Subsequently, the DC visited the operational control room where all personnel and machinery were in active service.
Various department personnel are stationed at service centers, equipped to offer assistance and guidance, alongside machinery for snow removal. As per the DC Murree, the administration has initiated snow removal efforts on roads, incorporating the use of salt. Currently, Murree has experienced a snowfall of 0.5 inches, and traffic is progressing normally. All administrative bodies are actively engaged in the field.
Simultaneously, Balakot and its environs are witnessing continuous rain, while the Kaghan Valley is immersed in ongoing snowfall since late night, alleviating the prevailing cold weather conditions.
Shogran has accumulated 8 inches of snow, with Saripai, Naran, and adjacent valleys experiencing snowfall exceeding a foot. Post-snowfall, temperatures in Naran plummeted to minus 4, Kaghan to minus 2, and Shogran to minus 1.
In Neelam Valley, following an extended dry spell, snowfall has persisted for the second consecutive day. Upper Neelum Valley sub-valleys, including Grace, Sargan, and Shontar, have reported communication line closures. The meteorological department forecasts continued rain and snowfall over the next two days.
