According to the Strait Times, a Singaporean man sued his romantic interest for "friend-zoning" him. After finding out that Nora Tan only saw him as a friend, a man by the name of K Kawshigan is filing a $3 million lawsuit against her for "mental damage." In 2016, they first met, and over time, they became friends. Tan always saw their relationship as one of friendship, despite the fact that Kawshigan felt love for her. When Tan revealed in September 2020 that she only saw Kawshigan as a friend, but he saw her as his "closest friend," the issue surfaced. Kawshigan decided to put off filing a lawsuit against Tan for emotional harm until she agreed to go to counseling with him. Tan acknowledged to the man that she felt "really uncomfortable" throughout the procedure. Kawshigan didn't like it, so he made "irrevocable" threats against Tan's personal and professional lives if she didn't comply with his demands. Kawshigan was still unable to comprehend why Tan did not want to date him after more than a year and a half of counseling. He sued her twice after she broke up with him. In the magistrate's court, he claimed $22,000 for allegedly breaking an agreement to fix their relationship, and in the high court, he claimed $3 million for allegedly harming "his brilliant reputation" and causing "trauma, depression, and effects" on his life.
