The Accountability Court has granted a 14-day physical remand for Parvez Elahi in a bribery case related to government contracts. He has been handed over to the NAB authorities. As reported by Express News, Pervez Elahi, the President of Tehreek-e-Insaf, appeared before the NAB’s accountability court amidst tight security. The proceedings were presided over by Judge Zubair Shahzad Kayani.

During the hearing, Parvez Elahi’s attorney, Amjad Parvez, requested permission to confer with his client. Amjad Parvez expressed the need to have a brief discussion with his client before presenting arguments. The court granted permission for this consultation.

NAB Prosecutor Waris Ali Janjua urged the judge to grant physical remand for Parvez Elahi. Janjua argued that Elahi is implicated in cases involving fraudulent activities and kickbacks pertaining to government contracts. He stated that the implementation of the law and development projects were disregarded, affecting the entire province.

NAB’s lawyer, Waris Ali Janjua, further mentioned that four individuals had already been apprehended in connection with this case. Parvez Elahi was arrested the previous day and presented before the accountability court today. He highlighted that a list of 200 projects was compiled from the relevant Exxon, and these projects were expedited in violation of the law.

The NAB lawyer conveyed that Munis Elahi, Parvez Elahi’s son, held a meeting where the distribution of kickbacks was arranged.

Parvez Elahi’s legal representative pointed out that his client’s arrests are subject to pending cases in both the Supreme Court and Lahore High Court. Despite this, he was taken into custody.

Subsequently, the accountability court sanctioned the physical remand of Parvez Elahi until August 21, entrusting him to NAB for further investigation.
