ISLAMABAD: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, declared that the sit-in scheduled for July 26 in Islamabad will persist until their demands are met.
Speaking at the Trade Convention in Rawalpindi, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman stated that their protest is against excessive taxes and the rising prices of petroleum products and gas. He emphasized that they will remain in Islamabad until their demands are approved, stressing the importance of maintaining the nation’s dignity regardless of political affiliation. He assured that Jamaat-e-Islami will not compromise the people’s interests and aims to ensure a dignified life for all citizens. The July 26 sit-in is framed as a national agenda.
Hafiz Naeem extended an invitation to workers from all political parties, highlighting that people had once sacrificed everything for justice in Pakistan, but today, justice is absent. He warned that without Jamaat-e-Islami’s initiative, anarchy could spread in the country. He pledged to pursue peaceful political resistance, expressing confidence in their eventual success, with God’s will, through steadfast truth.
He further asserted that if the government abolishes illegal taxes on petrol, electricity, and gas and ends the usury system, traders are willing to pay taxes. He criticized a privileged class that controls the country, noting that these individuals thrive under martial law, democracy, and caretaker governments alike.
