KARACHI: Haleem Adil Sheikh, a prominent figure within the PTI party, has garnered attention as he submitted an application to the Sindh High Court to contest an arrest warrant issued in connection with the May 9 tragedy’s arson charges.
In the filed petition, Haleem Adil Sheikh asserts that he is currently under protective bail granted by the Peshawar High Court. The Hyderabad Special Anti-Terrorism Court had issued arrest warrants of a non-bailable nature. However, the Sindh High Court has intervened to halt any arrests in this matter. The request seeks the suspension of the Hyderabad court’s arrest warrants and a prohibition on arrests under any circumstances.
Speaking informally to the media following the submission of the application, Haleem Adil Shaikh stated that he and his team have maintained a consistent presence within the legal process. He commented on the unfolding events in Pakistan over the past year and a half, comparing the treatment he has received from the PPP party to his experiences over five years. Despite the challenges, he emphasized his commitment to facing the legal proceedings head-on.
He further highlighted that the People’s Party seemed to be attempting to shift blame onto others, while he, as a patriotic leader of the nation, has chosen to remain incarcerated for the sake of the country. He acknowledged the option to flee to other countries like London or Dubai, but stressed his determination to stand for the nation’s interests by remaining in Adiala Jail.
