A tragic accident occurred near Sirhari railway station in Nawabshah district involving the Hazara Express, a train running from Karachi to Pindi. As a result, several passengers were injured when multiple coaches derailed and toppled. Promptly, ambulance and police services rushed to the scene to aid the victims.
Following the incident, train operations on the up track were suspended to allow for necessary rescue and recovery efforts. The injured individuals are currently being transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
According to a spokesperson from Pakistan Railways Karachi, the accident was caused by the late application of brakes, leading to the derailment of 8 bogies from the train. As a consequence, train departures from Karachi are expected to face delays due to the incident.
While the extent of the damage is yet to be assessed, the spokesperson informed that efforts to clear the affected bogies using machinery will commence within a few hours. The situation is being closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
