In Karachi, Chairman of the Senate, Yousaf Raza Gilani, remarked that if Maulana Fazlur Rehman can engage with PTI, he should be able to engage with us as well.
During his visit to the shrine of Pakistan’s founder on Wednesday, accompanied by the Chief Minister of Sindh, he laid wreaths and recited Fateha. Speaking to the media, Gilani emphasized the need for unity and dialogue for the country’s sake.
He mentioned that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a long-time friend, would soon come to understand this perspective. He pointed out that if Maulana could collaborate with PTI, there should be no barrier to collaborating with them. The People’s Party holds Maulana in high regard, recalling his support in the Senate. Gilani also noted their shared origin from Multan and communication in Saraiki.
Reflecting on past political decisions, Gilani recalled advising Imran Khan’s committee, which included Shah Mehmood Qureshi, that dissolving the KP and Punjab Assemblies was a mistake.
Gilani stressed that even in cases of severe conflict, negotiation remains the only viable solution, citing Bibi Shaheed’s consistent advocacy for dialogue.
He assured that the 65% youth population in Pakistan would not be neglected. Highlighting the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto, also a youth, he promised comprehensive efforts for the youth’s prosperous future and support for the government’s positive initiatives.
