Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi were jailed for 10 and 10 years respectively in the cipher case.

In Rawalpindi, the Official Secrets Act Court has handed down a 10-year jail sentence to the founder of PTI and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in connection with the cipher case.

The case was presided over by Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain in Adiala Jail. Fazil Judge provided copies of the questionnaire and statements to the PTI founder and Shah Mehmood Qureshi for their statements under Section 342.

Both political leaders were required to respond to 36 questions in the questionnaire, and they individually provided their answers. Following the recording of statement 342, the judge, before announcing the sentence, posed a final question to Imran Khan regarding the whereabouts of the cipher.

The founder of PTI responded, stating that he was unaware of the cipher’s location, asserting that it was not in his possession but rather in his office. He emphasized in his statement that the security of the Prime Minister’s office was not under his responsibility.

Surprisingly, the court issued the imprisonment verdict for both the founder of PTI and Shah Mehmood Qureshi even before recording the statement of Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Following the judgment, the PTI founder maintained a smiling demeanor, while Shah Mehmood Qureshi protested, highlighting that his statement had not been recorded yet.
