Rawalpindi: Imran Khan, the founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has claimed ignorance about the party ticket distribution, stating that he is not aware of the recipients and won’t be consulted despite court permission. Speaking during the Tosha Khana case hearing in Adiala Jail, Khan mentioned that despite a court order, there was no consultation on ticket distribution.
When questioned about not supporting Sheikh Rasheed, Khan explained that a rule has been established, barring those who hold press conferences against the party from receiving tickets. He emphasized that negotiations are only possible for ensuring fair and transparent elections in the country.
Addressing concerns about the resignation of two Supreme Court judges, Khan expressed curiosity about the Supreme Court’s stance. Regarding the withdrawal of the bat symbol from PTI, he claimed it was an attempt to break the party and hinder its election participation. When asked about Faiz Hameed as an accused, Khan asserted that the army is not a political entity and decisions are made by individuals at the top.
Khan denied any contact from foreign ambassadors or establishments and highlighted the challenges faced in the 2018 elections, losing seats with a narrow margin. He criticized the mockery of law and justice in the country, pointing to the lack of accountability for cases involving Maryam Nawaz, Shahbaz Sharif, and Asif Zardari.
Workers in the courtroom expressed grievances about ticket distribution, with Khan reiterating that he was not allowed to consult on tickets. He stated his lack of knowledge about the recipients and questioned how he could decide on 850 tickets verbally.
During the court session, Khan interacted with journalists, expressing surprise that the entire conversation was being reported in the media. The Tosha Khana case hearing in Adiala Jail recorded statements from four witnesses, and the court adjourned the proceedings until Monday (January 15).
