Imran Khan Reaction on Audio Leak Commission ; Demand for identification of recording elements

Authority should be given as to who these powerful and unknown elements are who tap and record the telephone conversations of citizens including high public officials.

They said this is a serious violation of privacy guaranteed under Article 14 of the Constitution. Granted, those who illegally obtain data through illegal phone tapping and surveillance should not only be held accountable.

Imran Khan said that ‘rather than those who leak various phone calls on social media through fabrication and tampering, there should be accountability’, suggesting that democracies governed by the rule of law should allow the state to intervene in certain aspects of life.

There should be no arbitrary interference. Chairman PTI said that the right to privacy and dignity guaranteed under Article 14 is clearly violated whenever the state illegally monitors an individual. He added.

That some of the recently leaked calls were made to the effect that the minister A secure phone line was to be set up in Azam’s office, however, it was illegally tapped and tampered with.

Apparently, the elements behind such daring tapings operate outside the command and even the knowledge of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
