In the context of a 190 million pounds corruption case, the Accountability Court has denied the bail plea of the Chairman of PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf), Imran Khan. This refusal has granted the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) the permission to apprehend him.
Express News reports that the interim bail request of Imran Khan, the leader of PTI, was addressed in the accountability court in connection with the 190 million pound case. The proceedings were overseen by Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court.
During the hearing pertaining to Imran Khan’s potential arrest, comparisons were drawn to the situation of former President Asif Ali Zardari. Judge Muhammad Bashir commented that it would be appropriate if NAB were to arrest them, drawing a parallel to Zardari’s previous statements about welcoming imprisonment. Imran Khan’s attorney, Khawaja Haris, requested an opportunity, emphasizing that their actions were not deliberate.
The court ordered that Bushra Bibi should not be taken into custody by NAB. However, the court turned down the PTI chairman’s plea for bail non-compliance. This ruling has paved the way for NAB to apprehend the PTI chairman.
Similarly, in the case related to the NAB inquiry into the Tosha Khana scandal, the bail application of PTI’s Chairman was also rejected. This decision was rendered by Judge Muhammad Basheer of the Accountability Court. Additionally, based on NAB’s stance, the bail application of Bushra Bibi was dismissed.
According to NAB, the arrest warrant for the PTI Chairman in the 190 million pound corruption case remains valid. Consequently, NAB now possesses the authority to arrest the Chairman of PTI.
