The founding chairman of PTI has approached the Supreme Court seeking participation in the upcoming general elections.
He has filed an appeal against the Islamabad High Court’s ruling via Advocate Latif Khosa, arguing that his preclusion before the elections violates his fundamental rights.
Imran Khan stated that the Election Commission hastily disqualified him for five years under Article 62 1F on August 8, concurrently depriving Tehreek-e-Insaf of its party symbol, the bat. Despite his request to suspend judgment in the Tosha Khana case being rejected and the disqualification upheld, Khan aims to overturn the High Court’s decision and suspend the punishment decision.
He contends that the Election Commission capitalized on the High Court’s error and issued a disqualification notice against the PTI founder. Given the proximity of the elections, Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister and leader of the country’s largest party, implores the Supreme Court to nullify the High Court’s ruling and suspend the Tosha Khana case’s decision, enabling his participation in the elections.
