Renowned Bollywood icon Naseeruddin Shah has voiced his criticism regarding movies centered on animosity towards Pakistan and Muslims. In a recent interview, the veteran actor expressed his concerns over the popularity and success of films such as ‘Ghadar 2,’ ‘Kerala Story,’ and ‘Kashmir Files.’
The legendary actor went on to remark that India is currently dominated by fanaticism, where individuals who espouse extreme views tend to gain more popularity. He emphasized that being self-righteous and fostering hatred has become a path to fame.
Naseeruddin Shah noted that, in contemporary India, it’s not merely sufficient to have love for the country; one must also engage in patriotic fervor and create an imaginary adversary. He cautioned against the dangers of this trend, emphasizing that those who depict real-life truths in their films often struggle to find success. Nevertheless, he encouraged these directors not to lose hope and to persevere in crafting excellent and meaningful films amid the prevailing wave of fanaticism.
