In the case of audio leaks, the Ministry of Defense has submitted its reply to the court

The Ministry of Defense has presented a response to the audio leaks involving former first lady Bushra Bibi and Najam Saqib, son of former chief Saqib Nisar, to the Islamabad High Court. They highlighted that numerous inexpensive tools are easily accessible for recording audio via smartphones, some even available for purchase, while certain platforms offer these services for a fee.

Their statement emphasized the potential for altering voice content using artificial intelligence tools, underscoring that only the social media platform possesses information on the source of the recording. The Ministry of Defense clarified that under PICA 2016, the FIA Cybercrime Wing holds the authority to gather data from social media platforms and requested the court to direct the wing to investigate further.

Additionally, the response pointed out the possibility of callers recording conversations themselves for future leaks or the potential for phone hacking. The Ministry’s concise one-page submission was made to Justice Babar Sattar of the Islamabad High Court, leading to the adjournment of the case’s hearing until February 19th.
