New Delhi has raised concerns over the utilization of funds allocated to Pakistan by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), alleging that they may be diverted towards defense purposes.
India has emphasized the need for strict monitoring of Pakistan’s debt management by the IMF. A recent report by “The Hindu” highlighted India’s stance in a review meeting regarding Pakistan’s ongoing $3 billion IMF program.
Krishnamurtisubramaniam, India’s representative, asserted the importance of ensuring that IMF loans are not channeled into defense spending.
Additionally, India has voiced suspicions that these funds could potentially be directed towards supporting terrorism or repaying debts to other nations such as China and Saudi Arabia. India’s abstention from voting on Pakistan’s debt programs in July underscores its growing concerns in this regard.
