In a recent development, New Delhi has taken action against a Canadian diplomat following their assertion that India played a role in the assassination of a Sikh leader. Reports from Indian media state that Indian authorities have given this Canadian senior diplomat a five-day notice to depart the country. The diplomat’s identity has not been disclosed, and they have been expelled on charges of interfering in Indian affairs and engaging in activities perceived as anti-India.
This move comes in the wake of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s accusations against India, claiming its involvement in the murder of Canadian citizen and Sikh leader, Hardeep Singh. Trudeau openly discussed this matter with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G20 meeting, emphasizing that the killing of the Sikh leader constitutes a clear violation of Canada’s sovereignty and international norms.
In response, Canada also took action by deporting the head of India’s intelligence agency, RAW. India, however, has vehemently denied these allegations made by Canada.
