Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called on India to take the case of Sikh leader Pradeep Singh seriously. He emphasized the gravity of the situation and expressed concerns over the lack of a strong response from the Indian government.
Trudeau spoke to the media, stating that the killing of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Najar in Canada is a deeply troubling incident that demands India’s serious attention. He accused India of being uncooperative in addressing this matter. Additionally, Trudeau addressed the Canadian Parliament, alleging Indian involvement in the murder of pro-Khalistan Sikh leader Hardeep Singh and confirming the expulsion of an Indian diplomat over the issue.
The Canadian Foreign Minister revealed that the expelled Indian diplomat, Pawan Kumar, held a prominent position within India’s intelligence agency, RAW, in Canada. India responded by expelling a senior Canadian diplomat from their country.
The victim, Hardeep Singh Nagar, was a Canadian citizen who was fatally shot outside a Sikh Gurudwara in British Columbia on June 18th of this year.
Meanwhile, the United States has called on India to cooperate with Canada in the investigation into the alleged involvement in the Sikh leader’s killing. A spokesperson from the US Department of Foreign Affairs expressed concern over these allegations and urged the Indian government to actively participate in a thorough investigation.
