Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ataullah Tarar, emphasized that certain politicians are prioritizing their personal agendas over the welfare of the state, potentially harming the country’s economy.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, he stressed that despite these challenges, the government remains committed to safeguarding the economy from any detrimental actions.
Tarar highlighted concerns about the PTI’s recent engagement with the European Union, labeling it as detrimental to the nation’s interests. He criticized the alleged attempts by PTI’s founder to push the country into default, citing a letter purportedly sent to the IMF. However, Tarar credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s intervention for averting this crisis.
Regarding PTI’s demands for facilities, Tarar accused the party of prioritizing personal comforts over national interests. He criticized PTI’s founder for allegedly exploiting privileges while in prison, including excessive meetings and special treatment, which he claimed were not in line with prison regulations.
Tarar pledged to support media workers and journalists, vowing to bridge the gap between the government and the media. He also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s economic strategy, noting positive feedback from international sources like Bloomberg. Tarar highlighted the importance of utilizing the Prime Minister’s experience in negotiating with financial institutions and praised Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb’s expertise in global economics. He expressed confidence in the government’s efforts to revitalize the economy through initiatives led by the State Bank of Pakistan.
