Ireland: Illegal data transfer, Meta fined $1.3 billion

Dublin: Ireland’s Data Protection Commission has fined Facebook company Meta $1.3 billion for privacy violations. 

According to global media reports, the Data Protection Commission (DPC) has fined the American tech company for violating privacy rules. fined $3 billion and ordered it to stop transferring consumer data across the Atlantic by October. 

The fine follows a three-year investigation into whether MetaIreland sent personal data from the EU to the US in the provision of its Facebook service.
