The Islamabad High Court has declared the delimitation of National Assembly constituencies NA-35 and NA-36 null and void. Chief Justice Aamir Farooq directed the Election Commission to re-delineate these constituencies after considering all parties involved.
This decision came after Barrister Umar Ejaz Gilani argued that according to the law, constituency populations should be equal, highlighting a significant population difference between Kohat and Hangu constituencies. The petitioner stressed that the Election Commission’s new boundaries infringed upon the voting rights of the affected population. However, the court dismissed Chaudhry Nisar’s plea challenging the delimitation of NA-53 and PP-10 constituencies, which was filed by Sheikh Sajidur Rahman.
