The Islamabad High Court has requested the comprehensive documentation related to the Tosha Khana case involving Imran Khan. The court has officially ordered a hearing on the appeal against the sentence handed down to the PTI Chairman in the Tosha Khana case. The court has specifically called for the entire case record concerning Imran Khan’s involvement in the Tosha Khana issue. Furthermore, the Registrar’s Office has been instructed to expedite the decision regarding Imran Khan’s plea for suspension of his sentence.
In relation to this matter, it’s pertinent to mention that Imran Khan was sentenced to three years in prison and fined Rs. 100,000 in the Tosha Khana case. The court has taken this step following an appeal against the sentence and the plea for suspension of the sentence. The order for these actions was issued by Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.
The appeal put forth by the PTI Chairman challenges the verdict of the trial court pronounced on August 5. The trial stemmed from a complaint by the Election Commission and resulted in a three-year imprisonment sentence along with a fine of one lakh rupees for Imran Khan.
Consequently, the court has directed the concerned parties to be served with notices and has called for the compilation of all case records. Notably, Imran Khan, as the Chairman of PTI, has formally requested the suspension of his sentence and his release on bail.
