Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court has dismissed the petition addressing harassment against Baloch protesters, issuing specific directives.
The court has mandated security for Baloch demonstrators advocating for the recovery of missing individuals and ordered the provision of details regarding cases filed against them within a 7-day timeframe.
In response to the Advocate General’s request to submit a USB containing Mahring Baloch’s press conference, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani rejected the notion, emphasizing that no such USB should be surrendered or accepted. He pointed out the routine ridicule faced by people in press conferences, stating that the court’s role is not to engage in such matters.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani directed the Attorney General to address and resolve the issues faced by the Baloch protesters, emphasizing that their problems have persisted unresolved even in Balochistan. The court instructed the submission of details regarding cases against the protesters, whether in Turbat or elsewhere, within a specified period.
The Advocate General argued against the legitimacy of Baloch protests, asserting that they are not permitted. However, he acknowledged refraining from taking action against the protesters due to the court’s interim relief. The Advocate General expressed a desire for the Baloch protesters to return home.
In court, representing the petitioner were lawyers Iman Mazari, Attaullah Kundi, and others, while Advocate General Islamabad Ayaz Shaukat and State Counsel Abdul Rahman represented the district administration.
