Parliament has ended corruption cases, when consciousness comes, it will be too late, Islamabad High Court

The Islamabad High Court has halted the implementation of a notification regarding the reduction of prices for non-bread items in the federal capital.

During the proceedings overseen by Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, the court addressed a plea presented by the president of the Non-Bi Welfare Association. The court temporarily suspended the notification issued by the district administration pertaining to the reduction in prices of non-bread items until the next hearing scheduled for May 6.

A representative from the district administration mentioned that through legislative amendments, District Coordination Officers (DCOs) have been authorized to determine prices. In response, Barrister Umar Ejazgilani, representing the Nanbai community, contended that the cost of flour is high in the area and rent is also a contributing factor, emphasizing that the authority of the Controller General is not outlined in Section III.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri raised concerns, questioning whether the authorities consulted with tandoor owners regarding the current flour prices, or if the decision was made solely to appease the public.

Pending further deliberation and a detailed response from all parties involved, the court suspended the notification until the next hearing on May 6 and adjourned the proceedings.
