In Islamabad, the High Court has issued an order prohibiting any harassment of V Lager Asad and has instructed that the investigation be integrated into the FIA inquiry.
Chief Justice Aamir Farooq of the Islamabad High Court presided over the hearing of a petition filed by V Lager Asad regarding a notice from the FIA accusing him of orchestrating a smear campaign against the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Representing the petitioner, V Lager Asad, Advocate Iman Mazari argued that the FIA’s summoning and subsequent 8-hour detention of Asad were unlawful. The FIA had issued notices on February 20 and 24, which were deemed illegitimate.
In response, the Chief Justice noted that he could potentially issue a notice to the FIA but emphasized that no judgment could be made based solely on assumptions.
The court has instructed V Lager Asad to cooperate with the FIA inquiry while ordering that the FIA refrain from harassing the petitioner. Additionally, the Chief Justice directed the petitioner to participate in the FIA inquiry.
