
Spokesperson for the Pakistan Army, Major General Ahmed Sharif, has stated that terrorists from the TTP are conducting acts of terrorism within Pakistan from Afghan territory, with the aim of undermining economic progress.
In a press briefing held in Rawalpindi, DG ISPR Major General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry highlighted substantial evidence indicating the TTP’s use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities within Pakistan. He emphasized the military’s commitment to taking decisive action against these sanctuaries and reiterated the top priority of restoring peace within the country.
Major General Sharif further disclosed that investigations revealed connections between the suicide attack on Chinese engineers and operatives operating from across the border in Afghanistan. He asserted that such attacks are orchestrated to impede Pakistan’s economic development.
He recounted the recent thwarting of a terrorist attack on the Gwadar Port Authority Colony, during which eight terrorists were neutralized by army personnel. Major General Sharif underscored these instances as proof of the military’s successful efforts in thwarting hostile intentions.
Addressing the issue of terrorism originating from India, Major General Sharif accused Indian agencies of carrying out attacks within Pakistan, resulting in casualties. He reassured that Pakistan is resolute in dismantling terrorist networks and ensuring their accountability.
Major General Ahmed Sharif also addressed concerns regarding missing persons, dismissing claims of widespread disappearances and suggesting foreign involvement in certain cases.
