Former Federalist Javed Latif has indicated that there is currently no effort to undermine Nawaz Sharif, and it is expected that he will return to Pakistan in mid-September. Latif mentioned that there has been a history of attempts to undermine Nawaz Sharif, led by a powerful organization, dating back to 1990. However, these obstacles have become less prominent over the past 8-9 months, and there is a noticeable absence of efforts to undermine Sharif.
During an appearance on the Express News program “Centrestage,” Javed Latif expressed that the phase of selection committees is now concluded, and politicians are required to present their credentials to the nation. Latif emphasized the significant role of Nawaz Sharif, stating that the creation of Pakistan in 2017 would have been improbable without him. Sharif’s return to Pakistan is anticipated around the middle of September, with the final decision to be made after September 15. Latif underscored that Nawaz Sharif remains a vital option for the country’s future.
Addressing the pressing concern of timely elections, Javed Latif noted that both his party’s leadership and he share the belief that elections should be held as scheduled. He called for the Election Commission to promptly announce the election date to quell speculations surrounding this matter. Latif asserted that any delay in elections could be detrimental to the state.
Reflecting on the government’s performance over 16 months, Javed Latif acknowledged successes in foreign affairs and the economy. However, he admitted that the administration fell short of achieving the vision for Pakistan as envisioned in 2017.
