
Journalist Imran Riaz Khan has been successfully located and has returned to his residence.
The District Police department shared an update across their social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, regarding the discovery and reunion of Imran Riaz Khan.
Imran Riaz Khan was apprehended on May 9 in the midst of widespread protests throughout the country, which were sparked by the arrest of Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Imran Riaz Khan was detained by FIA officials while en route from Sialkot International Airport to Muscat. Subsequently, he was transferred to the custody of the local police. Following his initial apprehension, Imran Riaz Khan was first taken to the Cantt Police Station and later incarcerated in Sialkot Jail.
Concerned for his son’s well-being, Imran Riaz Khan’s father filed a petition with the Lahore High Court, alleging his son’s abduction. On May 16, a case of Imran Riaz Khan’s alleged kidnapping was officially registered at the Civil Line police station, with his father, Riaz Khan, as the complainant. This FIR was filed under Section 365 of the Penal Code, naming unidentified individuals and police personnel as potential suspects.
On September 20, Chief Justice Amir Ali Bhatti of the Lahore High Court presided over the hearing of Imran Riaz Khan’s father’s plea. During the proceedings, the court acknowledged that five months had passed, and they were content with the progress made. The Inspector General of Punjab informed the court that the provincial intelligence chief was currently unavailable in Lahore but assured that a meeting of the working group would convene on Jamia day. The IG Punjab further pledged to share positive developments within 15 days.
