Judgment reserved on Imran Khan’s plea against jail trial.

PTI founder arrested in another terrorism case, release in trouble

The Islamabad High Court has postponed its decision regarding the petition filed by the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against a £190 million fine and imprisonment trial in the Tosha Khana National Accountability Bureau (NAB) case.

During the High Court session, discussions were conducted on the petitions challenging the imprisonment trial of the PTI founder in the NAB case. The Attorney General informed the court about the availability of screenshots from Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, emphasizing that media access is being granted during the trial.

Shoaib Shaheen, the lawyer representing the founder of Tehreek-e-Insaf, argued that there is no court order specifically related to the imprisonment trial. He pointed out that the notification was issued before the references were even present, indicating a clear malice in the fact that there were no references when the trial notification was issued. Shaheen added that his client has halted all other activities and is currently in jail solely for trial in these cases. He clarified that they are not opposed to the idea of an imprisonment trial, but stressed the importance of adhering to established parameters.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mahmour Jahangiri have reserved their decision on the petition challenging the imprisonment trial.
